Scholarships

Dear Foothills Members,

 

For SCHOLARSHIPS this year, we are going to streamline the process. Please reply directly to this email with the answers to the following questions: (*please note, for medal award grants, see instructions further below)

 

1. What scholarship/s you are applying for?

 

2. Why do you believe you should be a recipient of the scholarship/s?

 

3. What is your goal this year?

 

4. How do you plan to use the funds if you are awarded the scholarship/s?

 

Please be specific in your answers! We want to support our hard working members and volunteers and encourage as much participation as we can as we forge ahead into a new year. 

 

The approximate value of each grant is still to be determined but it will range from $200-$400 each. In order to be eligible for scholarships, 12 hours of volunteer work must have been executed within the year. You must be a member of Foothills to receive a scholarship.

 

Shannon LaFaille has been keeping track of hours but if you have not submitted hours for one of the qualifying events below, please contact her directly at shannonlafaille@att.net. Please see the list of qualifying events for volunteer hours below.

 

SCHOLARSHIPS WILL BE AWARDED AT THE HOLIDAY PARTY IN JANUARY -- PLEASE SAVE THE DATE FOR JANUARY 13, 2024 at the home of Ana Gilmour in Orangevale, California.

Here is a list of the 2023/24 Grants/Scholarships: (Remember, you must have a total of 12 hours or more logged volunteer hours to receive one of the following:

 

*Volunteer Participation Scholarship (most volunteer hours performed/scholarships will be split in the case of ties)

(Divisions: Open, AA and Jr/YR)

 

*Training/Education Scholarship

(Divisions: Open, AA and Jr/YR)

 

*FEI Achievement (63% or higher) 

(Divisions: Open, AA and Jr/YR)

 

*Para Rider Achievement Scholarship 

(Please list your achievements)

 

*Vintage Achievement Scholarship 

(Riders 50 and over competing in dressage)

 

* MEDAL GRANTS *

 

The chapter also awards a grant of $200 for each medal achieved (bronze, silver or gold) by Foothills members in the calendar year but you must send us your medal recognition in order to receive this award. All divisions are included and volunteer hours are not required but encouraged.

 

SCHOLARSHIPS WILL BE AWARDED AT THE HOLIDAY PARTY IN JANUARY -- PLEASE SAVE THE DATE FOR JANUARY 13, 2024 at the home of Ana Gilmour in Orangevale, California - 5 PM. Please bring a dish to pass and BYOBottle. The Chapter will provide the main meat dish as well as water and soft drinks.

 

 

If you qualify for any of the scholarships above, please reply to foothillscds@gmail.com by December 31st with the answers to the above questions.

 

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL OF THESE GRANTS/SCHOLARSHIPS REQUIRE THE APPLICANT REPLY DIRECTLY TO US WITH ANSWERS TO THE 4 QUESTIONS ABOVE  FOOTHILLSCDS@GMAIL.COM EMAIL MUST BE RECEIVED BY DECEMBER 31ST AT MIDNIGHT!!

• Large R Judges’ Training with Lilo Fore at Golden State MEC as a RIDER (April)
• AA Clinic (April)
• Janet Foy Clinic (May)
• Western Horse Expo Booth (June)
• CDS Championship Show (September)
• Judges’ Training Foothills BARBIE Show at MEC as a RIDER (October)
• Foothills BARBIE Show at MEC as a VOLUNTEER (October)
• Foothills Board of Directors Attendance/Participation (all year)
• Foothills Committee Service (all year)
