Christine Hendricks Wins Foothills Chapter Adult Amateur Scholarship

Christine Hendricks name was drawn at the BBQ on Saturday, August 6th 2016 at Ironwood Equestrian Park, to win the Scholarship.

The Foothills Chapter of the California Dressage Society is excited to announce the launch of the Foothills Chapter Adult Amateur Scholarship. This Scholarship enables adult amateurs to focus on training toward a specific goal, with the trainer of her/his choice on a horse she/he owns or leases. Up to two scholarships of $500.00 will be awarded each year. Application here.

Scholarship Guidelines: The scholarship is to afford the adult amateur an opportunity to work on a specific training goal(s) with a trainer of choice.

  • Applicant must be a member of the Foothills Chapter.

  • The scholarships are for amateur riders, at any level who have a consistent volunteer background, within the past few years, specifically with the Foothills Chapter. Volunteer work for CDS will also be given consideration.

  • The recipient must own or lease the horse she/he would use for training.

  • The scholarship training grant funds will be disbursed to the awardee in the form of a check payable to the trainer of choice within 10 days of the scheduled session(s).

  • The scholarship training grant funds must be used prior to the end of the year awarded. If for any reason the funds are not used by the end of the grant year then the award funds will be returned to the chapter and will be re-granted.

  • Recipients must agree to write a short article, minimum of 500 words, for the Foothills Chapter newsletter detailing their experience. The article is expected within 30 days of completion of scholarship training.

Scholarship decisions will be made a by a panel appointed by the chapter chair. At least one member of the panel will be a member-at-large. Decisions of the panel are final.

Applications are due on or before March 30 of the current year. Scholarships announcements will be made at the Foothills Chapter Awards dinner each April of the current year.

In order to give this opportunity to as many of our members as possible, a recipient is eligible for one scholarship within a three-year period. Application here.
