Offered Scholarships

 

JUNIOR/YOUNG RIDER

  1. MEDAL SCHOLARSHIP

    1. $500 per award 

    2. Awarded to Jr/Yr applicants achieving their USDF Bronze, Silver or Gold Medal during the current year.  

  2. VOLUNTEER SCHOLARSHIP

    1. $500

    2. Awarded to the most valuable Jr/Yr applicant volunteer. Recipients must have volunteered 20 hours or more at any CDS events.

  3. HIGH SCORE SCHOLARSHIP

    1. $250 

    2. Awarded to the Jr/Yr applicant receiving the highest score above 65% at 1st level or above. Scores must be earned this year at a CDS rated show. 

  4. TRAINING/EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

    1. $200 per award

    2. Awarded to Jr/Yr applicants who demonstrates an eagerness to acquire additional skills to improve their dressage knowledge and performance. This award is for training expenses or continued education such as workshops, lectures and clinics. 

  5. ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP

    1. $500

    2. Awarded to a Jr/Yr applicant who excels academically while being an active and involved dressage rider.

  6. CALIYA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

    1. $300 (sponsored by the Kimura Doss family)

    2. Awarded to a Jr/Yr applicant who trains and competes on an Arabian (full or cross) horse at a rated show.  

  7. COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP

    1. $250 per award 

    2. Awarded to Jr/Yr applicants who aspire to promote the sport of dressage in the community.

  8. HUMAN/ANIMAL BOND SCHOLARSHIP

    1. $300 (sponsored by Dr. Anjali Daryani, Dr. Dustin Noack and Bonnie Gilmore)

    2. Awarded to a Jr/Yr applicant who demonstrates above and beyond compassion and care for their horse. Award to be utilized for attending veterinary/soundness clinics, saddle fitting, nutrition, horsemanship, or other horse care educational lectures and events.

  9. SPORTSMANSHIP SCHOLARSHIP

    1. $500

    2. Awarded to a Jr/Yr applicant who exhibits characteristics that exemplify positive sportsmanship principles and who serves as a positive role model for their peers. To be nominated by trainers.

  10. NEW MEMBER SCHOLARSHIP

    1. $150 per award

    2. Awarded to Jr/Yr applicants who are just starting in the sport of dressage (training or showing for <1 year). Awards to be used towards the Foothill Chapter schooling/rated shows and CDS Foothill Chapter membership.

  11. FEI SCHOLARSHIP

    1. $300 (sponsored by Suzy Westerbeck and Laurie Everson)

    2. Awarded to a Jr/Yr applicant for scoring 60% or above on a FEI test at a rated show.

 

ADULT AMATEUR

  1. MEDAL AWARD

    1. $250 per award 

    2. Awarded to Adult Amateur applicants achieving their USDF Bronze, Silver or Gold Medal during the current CDS show year.  

  2. HIGH SCORE AWARD (2nd level and under)

    1. $150 

    2. Awarded to an Adult Amateur applicant with the highest score at 2nd level or under at any CDS rated dressage show during the show year.

  3. EDUCATION GRANT

    1. $200 per award

    2. Awarded to Adult Amateur applicants who actively seek out educational events to better understand the fundamentals of dressage, riding, and horse care. Award to be used towards USDF University Credits.

  4. CHAPTER SUPPORT AWARD

    1. $200 per award 

    2. Awarded to Adult Amateur applicants who demonstrate the most support for the chapter by volunteering and attending events

  5. ANNUAL CDS MEETING GRANT

    1. $100

    2. Awarded to an Adult Amateur applicant to attend the annual CDS meeting in Southern California in 2021.

 

OPEN/PROFESSIONAL

  1. PARTICIPATION AWARD

    1. $250

    2. Awarded to an Open applicant who demonstrates commitment and support of the chapter by participating in chapter events and encouraging their students to participate as well.

  2. NEW MEMBERSHIP GRANT

    1. $200

    2. Awarded to a trainer applicant with the greatest number of students joining CDS this year. Grant is to be utilized by trainer to grow their business and acquire more clients. 

  3. CONTINUING EDUCATION GRANT

    1. $250

    2. Awarded to an Open applicant who aspires to further their knowledge and skills in dressage through clinics, workshops, judge certifications, lectures or training. This grant may also be used for USDF University Credits. 

 

 

ADULT AMATUER OR OPEN

  1. VINTAGE RIDER AWARD

    1. $100

    2. Awarded to an Adult Amateur or Open rider (age 60 or older) with the highest score at the annual Foothill Chapter rated show for the current year.

  2. PARA-RIDER AWARD

    1. $150

    2. Awarded to a Para Rider applicant representing the Foothill Chapter at any CDS rated show.
